Painting for Purpose: Thompsons Meats Commemorates Mandela Day

As we reflect on the meaningful moments of July, we are reminded of the powerful impact that community and compassion have on the world around us. In honour of Nelson Mandela Day, Thompson’s Meats proudly lends a hand to initiatives that reflect the spirit of Ubuntu—a month dedicated to creating lasting change in the lives of those who need it most.

In partnership with the Soweto Kota Festival, we bring joy to the bright students of Itekeng Primary School by preparing 300 delicious kotas, ensuring that their day is not only filled with smiles but also with nourishment. For these young learners, something as simple as a wholesome meal serves as a reminder that they are seen, valued, and supported.

At Siyajabula Creche, our commitment to enriching the lives of children continues. We sponsor a vibrant new jungle gym, a place where the children can play, laugh, and grow. Additionally, our team helps paint the school’s walls, transforming their environment into a colourful and welcoming space where learners can flourish. These acts of kindness create a brighter, more joyful setting for the children, many of whom face daily challenges.

Nelson Mandela’s words echo in our hearts: “It is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it.” With that belief in mind, we strive to do our part in making a positive difference every Mandela Day. July is more than just a month for us—it is a time of renewal, where the spirit of giving is extended beyond our actions, touching lives and bringing hope.

As we move forward, we remain committed to honouring Mandela’s legacy by continuing to give back and uplift our communities. Each step we take, no matter how small, contributes to the collective strength of those around us. We hope the spirit of Mandela Day inspires others to share their stories of kindness and keep this legacy alive all year round.
